# The Switch Getting a Virtual Boy Accessory? Really?

So apparently, Nintendo wants to bring back the Virtual Boy—this time as an accessory for the Switch. And honestly? I think this is just plain stupid.

The Virtual Boy is one of Nintendo’s biggest failures for a reason. It was uncomfortable, clunky, and gave people headaches more than it gave them fun. It was an ambitious experiment for the mid-90s, sure, but it didn’t work back then and it’s not going to magically work now.

The Switch is already a versatile console. You can play handheld, docked, or tabletop. Adding some awkward Virtual Boy-style add-on feels unnecessary. It’s not like anyone is asking for it. If people really want VR, there are already better, modern headsets like the Quest. Trying to repackage one of Nintendo’s most infamous flops as a “new experience” just feels like a cheap gimmick.

Nintendo has plenty of strengths—it doesn’t need to recycle bad ideas from the past. If they want to experiment with VR, fine. But don’t drag the Virtual Boy name into this. Some legacies are better left in the vault.

What do you think? Would you actually try out a Switch Virtual Boy, or do you agree it’s just another bad gimmick?
